Wind turbines across open farmland

India's energy transition is a once-in-a-generation build-out.

More than half of India's installed power capacity now comes from non-fossil sources, reached five years ahead of the 2030 goal. We help solar installers, bio-energy developers, equipment makers and energy-hungry MSMEs plan, finance and structure projects that deliver reliable returns.

Industry overview

Clean power is now the mainstream.

India's installed electricity capacity reached about 485 GW in June 2025, and non-fossil sources (solar, wind, hydro, nuclear and bio-power) crossed 50% of it, five years ahead of the country's 2030 commitment. Solar capacity alone passed 140 GW by early 2026, and the national goal is 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.

The build-out reaches far beyond utility-scale parks. Rooftop solar for homes and businesses, solar pumps for farms, compressed biogas from agricultural and municipal waste, ethanol blending and energy-efficiency projects all create opportunities for small and medium enterprises, as installers, developers, suppliers and energy users. Success depends on sound project economics, compliant equipment and the right finance.

Current landscape

The capacity is coming, execution decides returns.

Non-fossil capacity has overtaken fossil capacity. The next phase rewards developers and installers who execute well and finance projects soundly.

India's installed power capacity, June 2025Gigawatts (GW)
Non-fossil sources242.8 GW
Fossil sources242.0 GW

Total installed capacity was about 485 GW.
