Impact that lasts needs institutions that last.

India's development sector runs through NGOs, cooperatives, self-help groups and social enterprises, reaching hundreds of millions of people. We help these organisations strengthen governance, finance, compliance and strategy so their impact can grow and endure.

Industry overview

A sector built on trust, and increasingly on proof.

India's development ecosystem is vast. Companies spent ₹34,909 crore on CSR in 2023-24 and more than ₹1.44 lakh crore over the five years to 2023-24. About 8.4 lakh cooperatives serve some 32 crore members, and the national rural livelihoods mission has organised over 10 crore women into 90.9 lakh self-help groups, which have accessed more than ₹9 lakh crore in bank credit since 2013-14.

Funders, regulators and communities are asking for more: stronger governance, cleaner compliance, transparent use of funds and measurable outcomes. A new National Cooperation Policy (2025), tighter FCRA rules, CSR reporting and the new Income-tax Act all raise the bar. Organisations that build professional systems now will attract more funding and deliver more lasting impact.

Current landscape

More funding, higher expectations.

CSR spending has more than tripled in a decade. Funders now look closely at governance, compliance and evidence of impact before they commit.
